Using AI Agents with Basecamp

With the Basecamp CLI, AI agents can connect to your account and work in your projects just like you do.

The Basecamp CLI is a command-line tool that connects an AI agent, like Claude, ChatGPT's Codex, or a similar tool, to your Basecamp account. AI agents connected via the CLI can read and write in Basecamp just like you: post messages, create and assign to-dos, reply to check-ins, pull project activity, and more. If you can do it in Basecamp, an agent can do it too.

The real value shows up on work that's repetitive or spread across multiple places. Every morning, one prompt can pull everything due this week, what's assigned to you, and messages you haven't read yet. After a meeting, paste in your notes and an agent turns them into to-dos and posts a summary to your team's chat. Managing several projects? Ask for everything overdue across all of them and get an answer in seconds. If it feels repetitive, it's probably a good fit.

Getting started requires command-line access (a terminal on your computer) and a subscription to an AI service like Claude or ChatGPT. Head to /agents for step-by-step instructions and guides.
