Mini Guide: Game Masters

A Basecamp project is a great place to organize your tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) campaign. If you're a Game Director or Game Master, this guide will show you how to use the tools in Basecamp to help keep you and your players organized and ready to adventure!

Your Players

We recommend adding your players to the account as clients. All project items are hidden from clients, meaning you only share with your players the things they need to see, when they need to see them. This is great for magic item stats, handouts, maps, or any other documents you can organize in advance, then share when it's time.

Messages

Post messages and notify your players to make requests, share session recaps, and other announcements. Your players can add their comments to keep the conversation going.

To-Dos

Every campaign and each session likely has a series of tasks. Create to-dos so you know what to prep for your game. If you meet in person, use them to assign game-night essentials to the right people, like who's bringing pizza, drinks, etc...

💡 TIP: Create a to-do template to save time for future sessions or prep.

Schedule

Everyone knows scheduling can be the hardest part of running a TTRPG. Putting your sessions on the Schedule will keep everyone on course. Basecamp will send reminder notifications the day before your session and an hour before so the party knows it's time to get together!

Docs & Files

Sort out your handouts, player sheets and other useful information in the Docs & Files tool.

💡 TIP: Rename your tools to personalize your campaigns.

Doors

Add your virtual tabletop (VTT) or any other services you're using to your project as a tool by using the Doors feature. No more hunting around for the right link, everyone knows exactly where to go. In this example, we've added a link to a VTT account so everyone knows where to go when it's adventuring time:

Private items

Add your players as clients to your projects. Keep your GM-only items private and share what players need to know

Side Conversations in Pings

When you need to share information privately with one player (or a few), use a Ping to chat with them, share files and to keep all that game information in Basecamp.
