Admin Pro Pack

Admin Pro Pack is included with the Pro Unlimited package. On other packages, it can be purchased by an Account Owner as an upgrade.

Admin Pro Pack gives account owners and admins greater control over access and permissions and allows them to:

Change who can send Pings

Sometimes, you want to keep conversations with Clients or Outside Collaborators exclusive to Chat rooms.

With Admin Pro Pack, you can turn Pings off for specific companies in your account and ensure that important discussions stay within the designated channels. Say goodbye to distractions and hello to streamlined communication:

If you disable Pings for someone you've exchanged Pings with before, you can still see the conversation history, but you won't be able to message them anymore.

Change who can edit project details

If you don't have Admin Pro Pack, anyone who has access to a project (except Clients) can edit the project details, including its tools.

With Admin Pro Pack, you have the power to restrict editing access to only the project creator, admins, and owners. This ensures the changes are made exclusively by authorized team members:

Change who can edit the people on a project

By default, anyone who has access to a project (except clients and collaborators) can edit people on a project.

By enabling this feature, only owners, admins, and the project creator will have the ability to modify who is on a project and whether they're on it or following:

NOTE: This setting doesn't affect All-access projects, which anyone can see and join without and invitation.

Even with this setting enabled, non-admins will still be able to change their participation type or leave a project using the dedicated options in the ••• menu:

Change who can move, archive, and delete content

Out of the box, anyone with project access (barring Clients) can move, archive, and delete everything within it, from messages and events to to-dos . They can also archive and delete the project itself.

With this Admin Pro Pack feature activated, only owners, admins, and the original creator of the content will be able to move, archive, and delete it:

NOTE: The original creator won't be able to archive or delete their content if it includes comments from other users, i.e. an admin or account owner will need to archive or delete any content when there are multiple contributors.

By default, anyone on a project (with the exception of Clients) can create a public link for messages, to-do lists, and beyond, letting you share content without adding users to your Basecamp account.

With this Admin Pro Pack setting, you can restrict this capability to only account owners and admins:

Limit editing and deleting comments & chat lines to 15 minutes after posting

Some companies, especially ones that work with clients, want to prevent people from altering the record after the fact. To limit editing or deleting comments and chats, simply select the option and save the changes:

When set, once those 15 minutes expire, only admins and owners will be able to edit or delete the comment or chat.

Require two-factor authentication

Change chat history settings

Accounts created before June 16, 2023, have access to this setting without Pro Unlimited package or Admin Pro Pack upgrade.

By default, Basecamp retains browsable and searchable transcripts of all chats in Pings and Chat for the lifespan of your account.

With this Admin Pro Pack setting, you can adjust the data retention rules for your Pings and Chat, enabling Basecamp to automatically and permanently erase chats, including attachments, after a specified duration:

Set Out of Office for others

Admins are able to set Out of Office for users on the account. As an Admin, you can set someone Out of Office in two ways:

  1. Click on someone's avatar to open their profile card and click Set Out of Office. We made this available to your card also.

  1. Or navigate to Adminland > Manage people > Click on a person's (•••) and Set Out of Office:

Both cases will direct you to that user's Out of Office screen, where you can set their status and dates for them:

Clean Sweep

By default, completed to-dos and cards remain in a project indefinitely.

If you want to keep your To-do Lists and Card Tables tidy, you can change this setting so to-dos and cards are automatically archived 30 days after they're completed.

You can find this by heading to Adminland > Clean Sweep: Archive completed to-dos and cards automatically:

If you unarchive a to-do or card, it will be automatically archived again the next day. Want to keep the item in it's location? Simply unmark the to-do as complete, or move the card in a different column.
